Spinster Sisters Officially Becomes Public Benefit Corporation
Golden-based natural skincare company makes its mission-driven commitment official
Golden, Colo. May 21, 2021 — Spinster Sisters Co, a growing natural skincare company with a mission based on sustainability, took the official step of becoming a Delaware public benefit corporation to place increased focus on its mission-driven promises to people and the planet.
With a founder from Boulder Colorado who identifies as a “hippy at heart,” the company has had the benefit of all stakeholders in mind from its inception in 2012, so while this official change probably won’t make more of a noticeable impact, it will allow the company to better showcase its core values so they resonate even more with employees, customers, and investors alike.
What does Founder and CEO, Kelly Perkins think about the timing?
“With such a lean team, this just didn't jump out as a priority for our time since we figured our mission was already a public benefit. But we've been working towards becoming a certified B-Corp and now that we're so close I can taste it, I can’t believe we didn’t do this sooner. Helping to sustain a healthier planet where our employees, customers, and living beings everywhere can live and thrive has always been a priority for me.”
Spinster Sisters has been relentlessly determined to do better for people and the planet since Perkins first established the business. The company manufactures all its own products using only wind and solar energy at their Microsoapery in Golden Colorado, Business practices such as this that combat climate change will continue to be a focus of the company. Spinster Sisters will also continue its efforts to reduce plastics usage and consumption through its own choices regarding packaging and production as well as consumer education and advocacy. A reduced environmental footprint is important to the company itself, and its desire to help its customers along that same path. These public benefits have always been important to Spinster Sisters and will now have increased focus and attention with the company’s new status as a public benefit corporation. This conversion will allow the company to continue to balance its for-profit strategies along with that enhanced focus on its benefit purpose for all stakeholders.
